I became interested in massage school while living in New Mexico in the late '90's. I had become a reiki practitioner and liked the idea of being able to place my hands on someone and allow healing energy to come through, and that each of us has the capacity to heal with our hands. I figured that if I became a massage therapist I could also integrate reiki into my sessions.
After completing the ten month massage therapy course, I moved to Colorado and have been practicing massage for over thirteen years now. I've worked in diverse settings including nine years at a salon, seven years at a health club, and twelve years doing chair massage at corporations.
The biomat is a recent addition. I now use the biomat in all of my bodywork sessions, and sometimes as a treatment by itself. Many of my clients are elderly and survivors of cancer, and they consistently report feeling profoundly relaxed and rejuvenated after lying on the biomat.
Considering all the healing benefits of the biomat, I feel that the mat is doing its healing work as I'm working on clients, and the end result is a double dose of healing. The biomat has truly revived my interest in doing healing work, and I have personally experienced the healing effects of the biomat as I've been using it every day for my own stress relief. Combining the biomat with massage provides deep relaxation and rejuvenation for clients as well as specifically addressing chronic health issues that people present with such as arthritis, headaches, insomnia, fibromyalgia, back pain, and overall stress.

My Biomat Journey
My biomat journey began last September when I attended a neurofeedback conference in Phoenix to help a friend run her capnometer booth. The first day I was there I had some free time to walk around and check out the other exhibits. A few aisles away I came across the "Biomat Booth" and it looked very interesting to me. I saw people peacefully lying on massage tables with eye pillows covering their eyes. Naturally, I wanted to try it out!
So I did try it out for 30 minutes the first time, and after about 5 minutes on the mat I literally sank into a state of profound, blissful relaxation. I don't think I ever felt that relaxed in my entire life! I probably was hooked after that first time on the biomat, but then I kept trying it every day for the next few days I was at the conference. I would use it for 30-40 minutes at a time because my energy level was feeling low that week.
I later found out after talking to her that Marilyn Cobb who was running the biomat booth was also a massage therapist, and that there were distibutor opportunities with Richway as well. When I read more in depth about the biomat and found out about its healing benefits, I became more convinced that it was something I could really use both personally and professionally in my massage practice. So, after doing a little more research on it, I purchased a professional size mat when I returned home to Fort Collins.
Since then, I've been using the biomat in all my massage sessions and sometimes as a treatment by itself. My husband and I also use it everyday for our own stress relief and for relief of sore muscles. I have a few clients from Hope Lives breast cancer foundation who have also benefitted from using the biomat.
I'm a believer and the biomat rocks!
